A quick update on Fuchsia Media...

Ruth Lonsdale

A very quick blog post ahead of the new website launch, which I am hoping will be in the next few weeks. It has been an exciting month so far. We have taken on a new sponsored rider ahead of the 2025 season. The amazing Alexander Bragg will be joining the team from next year. I had a really lovely visit to his yard last week to meet him and the team. They were all so very kind and welcoming, even the horses! I am looking forward to hearing more about Alex's plans and getting some events booking in the diary.

I have also been busy designing the new website. This is not something that happens overnight, and this has been weeks in the making. I do think that we are almost there with it, we just need a few specific photos and videos and then we will be ready to launch. I am excited that Fuchsia Media will soon be offering a variety of new services, including content creation packages, stud/sales media, commercial work and social media management. Do visit the services page to find out more.

This week I have also purchased a DJI drone and Ronin Gimbal. I am hoping to really step up with the videography in 2025 and these 2 bits of kit will hugely help. Again, this isn't just a simple purchase of equipment. There is a lot more to drone usage than I previously realised. I have had to complete a test to get my flyer ID and operator's licence, and also have had to source drone specific insurance. I do hope that, in the long run, we will be able to get some super exciting footage for clients and so it will be worth all the initial hassle of getting everything set up!

There have also been changes to the rules with British Showjumping photographers. We are now required to register and complete a safeguarding test, in order to become an accredited photographer for BS. It was fairly easy to do and I am pleased that I am officially accredited for British Showjumping events for 2025. Alongside this, I have also just received my refreshed basic DBS check.

We are making progress with the trailer too and have spent the last few rainy days getting some more internal parts sorted. There was residue glue left over from the boards we removed from the walls and we have started to clean the walls and remove this glue. It is quite time consuming but we are getting there. Another 4 hours and I think we will be ready to move on to the next step. We have decided that the trailer is a little too big for the number of events we do though, so will be selling it and getting something a little smaller!

We are slowly getting everything ready so that we are good to go in 2025. I feel like we have made quite a bit of progress in these last few weeks. I love working and the feeling of achievement is high at the moment - long may it continue!

Until next time, Ruth x
